FORMAL WEAR
- Evening gowns throughout the 1920s took ideas from the past as well as the present. Generally when American women were dressing up they would wear ankle length, straight cut sleeveless sheaths over colorful slips. The look was romantic robe-de-style: based on historical styles (boned bodice, ankle length oval skirt with panniers, & a broad neckline) pastel colors with ribbons
- Gowns were generally asymmetrical which was a transition from tradition long dresses to shorter dresses.
